Superheroes Welcome!

Watson's 4 year old birthday was a big deal around here. Superhero big. That is the theme he chose and I was excited to make it magical for him. I did spend a couple of weeks brainstorming and putting things together. It was fun. All the invitees got their own superhero mask and there were a few different activities to test their superhero skills.

They got to "Vaporize the Villain" by shooting the villains with silly string.
Anyone and everyone could "Leap Tall Buildings" in the Batman Bouncehouse.

Squirt guns were available to help the Superheroes "Save the Superhero" Mr. Freeze put on ice.
Watson's friends and family were very kind with their gifts. He was excited about everything he got! Including the surprise root beer, popcorn, and chocolate donut.

The weather had been perfect as I set everything up in the yard. It started to get a little blustery just as we lit the birthday candles. Luckily, the kids got to enjoy most of the activities just before the balloons got whisked away and the rain started pelting us. We moved the party inside and all that mattered was my  Fabulous 4 Watson was a happy Superhero. Thank you to all our friends and family for coming to celebrate this fantastic kid!

Fabulous 4 Watson!

As much as I'd like to believe Watson will always be my sweet baby boy, he is growing like crazy. He turned 4, already. He is happy, funny, smart as ever, curious, loving, affectionate, tough, determined, observant, and amazing. I love being his mom. He makes me laugh everyday. He is our miracle and deserves to be celebrated everyday.

Scott was out of town for work on Watson's birthday so I tried to make things a little extra special. That morning he got his favorite pancakes on the red plate special. I'm not sure he gets the whole "blow out the candle and make a wish" thing. But, he likes to blow out candles. Thanks to Nana Wood he had some presents to open, that he LOVED. Good job Nana! (He has been excited for them for over a week. He discovered the boxes in my closet quite a while ago.)

He came home from school to find lots of balloons to battle and swish around. He also got a special treat, with another candle for a wish. We did a little birthday present shopping with Grandma Nettie and went to dinner at TGIFriday's. A little crew sang "Happy Birthday" to him and he got a special treat of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. I was able to get some gifts together to open later that night. So far, the biggest hit has been his Lego Minifigures sticker book. He loves it.

After a fun phone call with Dad, we called it a night. This birthday boy had a really great day, and he was pooped from it all. We love you Watson!

My Little Preschooler

Watson started preschool this year. He is going to Geri King's preschool. She is a local celebrity around our neighborhood. All of the kids adore her. She teaches the kids in a dedicated room in her home. She has been doing it for 27 years and still loves it! Watson is in a class with 11 other kids and is loving all of it. He is learning his ABC's and lots of other stuff. Insects are the focus this month. He started school on his birthday and got to bring a treat and be a special helper. He is so ready for this. We are so proud of our cute boy!

Grandma Nettie's Labor Day Campout

Every Labor Day weekend Grandma Nettie hosts a little family campout. The cousins love, love, love to spend time together so anytime there is a sleepover, they are in heaven. This year we ate dinner, played several rounds of a semi-competitive game of Musical Chairs and watched a movie outside, The Shaggy Dog. We love those old Disney classics. The weather was just right (until it started to sprinkle when the movie started) and everyone had a great time. Grandma Nettie's is a magical place every time of the year.

Final Summer Moments

We managed to squeeze in a little more fun in August before getting serious about summer ending. Watson and I visited the zoo with Challey, Stratton, Paris and London. I took Watson on a little one on one date to see "Planes." And, Scott and I had a little date at the Sundance Outdoor Theater to see "Annie, Get Your Gun." It was nice to wind things down slowly. I feel so grateful we had so much time together doing fun things. We are so blessed, in so many ways. I'm thankful for Scott's hard work and ability to provide for more than just our basic needs. I'm grateful to live close to family and that my Watson thinks his cousin is the best friend a boy could have. I'm grateful for my marriage and my husband that wants us to just get better together with time, no matter the challenges. I look forward to what is ahead for myself and my little family.
