The Next Chapter

Chandler started the next phase of his education, middle school, this past week. He chose to attend Beehive Science & Technology Academy. He loves math and science and really wanted to be somewhere he could focus on those subjects. This is a new experience for us all. I am excited for all that lies ahead for him and I know he will do well. He always has, and luckily, he has a great support system to constantly back him up. Although it is a bit sad to see him so grown up, I feel confident he is progressing in the right direction and I am proud of who he is becoming. WE LOVE HIM!

Yesssss! He did it!

Watson had secretly been telling me he was ready for the next stage of "big boy"hood, potty training. I think I just wasn't ready for him to not be my sweet little baby anymore. He has been on the fast track to keep up with the big kids this past year and I guess I was holding him back a bit. So, after checking out 3 books and 1 "Potty Pirate" video from the library, I thought I would start my own mental preparation. After reading 72 pages of one book I felt overwhelmed and underprepared. Was I really ready for this life transition? One Sunday evening while having dinner at my mom's with my family I was told to just go for it. Stop reading the silly books, my brother said. After some good natured teasing and a lot of support, I decided to just give it a go. That Monday I stocked up on Toy Story underwear, Matchbox cars, and Tootsie rolls. I found a sticker chart online and started this new adventure with Watson that afternoon. He did fantastic. He was so excited and really loved every part of it. We did kick off our training with a little Potty Pirate and went from there.  After about 2 1/2 days he had it down. He was so good about stopping while playing to use the potty. He loved getting the rewards but he loved being a big boy even more. I'm so proud of him! Another massive transition he handled beautifully. He is really capable of more than I really know.
Tootsie rolls are his favorite and he would try to go potty back to back to keep 'em coming! You can't see his cute little bum in this pic, but I can't stop pinching it.
He is so proud of his stickers. I am so proud of his stickers. It seems he is ready to take on the world!
